In 50 years I would think media would be completely different; It gives me that impression because of the rate technology and media are advancing nowadays.
Maybe phones, computes, tv, everything would me more like that 3d experience about everything being more with that idea of being immerse i the experience.
Also think that media and technology would be in every part of our life and we would depend on it even more than what we depend on in now.

Media in 15 years
In 15 years I do think media would be very different, maybe our phones would be more like a little computer, we could do many different things from it and maybe we would rely on it more.
I also think that touch screen would be more and more common, I think most computers and phones would be that way. Now 3d TV's are starting, but in 15 years I think this would be more common and even more advanced.
I think they would also think about video games in a different way, maybe more realistic and also with that idea of feeling immerse in the game.

Media in 5 years
In 5 years I think that media won't be too different. Nowadays media is so advanced, we can basically do anything from anywhere.
We can already see people through some phones , we can e mail, go to the internet, have gps and many other things that a few years ago we would never imagine. Some TV's are already 3d and and 3d movies are becoming more and more common.

Videogame narrative
To be honest I never thought that the stories of videogames were really deep and important, but after this assignment I tried to look at videogames in another way and now I think a little different.
The videogame that I focused on was The Legend of Zelda. In this particular videogame the story is important, the whole game revolves around one character that is trying to achieve something.
The only thing that I think is different with the narrative of a videogame is that there is a basic story, but it changes depending on what the person that is playing does. So in a way the stories are customize based on each person.
Now I do think that the stories in a videogame are important. The story makes the whole game, without the story, the game is not as interesting. But I also think that not all the videogames need a basic story because anyway you play it you make your own story.

Pattern Recognition is a story about a woman who works in advertising. She has the ability to find things in meaningless information. She finds patterns in things.
She was hired to find the people who created some videos that are posted in the Internet.
She starts talking with some people on a discussion board on Internet and they tell her that they know what is the hidden message on the videos. She goes through a series of thing to try to get that hidden message.
I think this story is about how people wish to know more of what they are supposed to. And also is trying to show us that trying to get more information sometimes have consequences.

Asterios Polyp is a graphic novel based on the life of an architecture teacher named Asterios.

Female Body image
Nowadays people are really obsessed with how they look and sometimes they go to extremes to change their images.Girls now think that having the darkest tan is really attractive and go thru many things to look really tanned. Tanning is not the healthiest thing to do specially with no skin protection.
The image that I have is of a girl that has a really dark tan; she also has really heavy make up, hair extensions and bleached blond hair. This is how some girls try to look like nowadays and to be honest it worries me a little.

Robert Altman (extended version)
For my auteurship essay I choose Robert Altman and the three movies I choose were A Prairie Home Companion, Dr. T & the Women and Gosford Park.
I didn’t find many things in common in the movies that would tell me that Robert Altman was the director, but I did find that a theme that was at least in those tree movies; the theme was family relationships. I also found other little things in common but the family relationship was the thing that I noticed the most.
Something else I noticed in the movies is that they are kind of slow at the beginning until you get to the end and get the idea of the movie.
In all the three movies I watched there was some sort of secret that everyone knew but all of them ignored it and didn’t talk about it.
In A Prairie Home Companion, everyone knew that one of the performers died but noone wanted to talk about it because that was their final show. In Gosford Park, everyone knew that the Sir William had affairs with every woman, but everyone even his wife ignored it. And in Dr. T & the Women, everyone knew that Dr. T’s wife had some sort of mental disability, but none said anything and they all tried to ignore it.
Something else that I found in all the three movies was that all of them have a mystery, something that you get to discover either half way through the movie or nearly at the end.
In A Prairie Home Companion there was a mysterious woman that appeared to many of the people on the show, but not everyone could see her. Halfway thru the movie she is talking to the creator and host of the show and she said that she was an angel that came to look for someone; that someone was the man that died.
In Dr. T & the Women, the mystery is the wedding of one of the daughters of Dr. T. nonoe knew that she was actually gay and that her maid of honor was actually her lover. Gosford Park also had a mystery; the mystery on this movie was the killer of Sir William.
All the main stories of the three movies revolve around a group of people not just one. Also in all of them the music plays a very important part in the feel of the movie.
Gosford Park was the movie that I was most interested about before looking at it when I read what the movie was about, but I found it a little disappointing because personally I found it was a little slow and at some points boring.
The movie was supposed to be a mystery, but you don’t get to that until the end of the movie. During the whole movie what you see is how the rich people live and how they treat their employees and the relationships and conflicts between everyone.
When you get near the end of the movie is where you really get interested in the movie, because when they kill Sir William we start to see all this different stories going on and trying to find out who killed him and why and when you discover who did it, it is kind of unexpected.
These movies are the kind of movie I would not watch to the end because they are really slow and you don’t get too much of a story until the end. But I did watch them to the end and I actually enjoyed them because you get the whole story at the end, but the process of getting there is kind of long and tedious.

Lolita
Lolita is a book that tells the story of Humbert Humbert a man who is attracted to girls age 9 to 14 who he calls nymphets and about his obsession with a girl named Dolores (Lolita).
I have heard from many people that they think that this story would be a perfect love story if Lolita were not a little girl.
I personally do not think that same way. In some parts of the book we can tell that Lolita is not happy with the situation, that she does not want to be with him, but she has nowhere else to go so she just does anything. Also the obsession that Humbert has is not normal. He just likes the girls because of their age, not because he has any other connection with them, what he thinks is love is not, is an obsession.
Even thou I think different to other people I do understand why they would think that it would be a perfect love story, because when you read the book Humbert who is the one who is talking in the book sounds like a very educated, interesting person so I guess it would be difficult to imagine him doing what he did and having this obsession with little girls.

Agatha Christie - Partners in Crime
Partners in Crime is a collection of short stories that revolve around the same characters. The stories are different cases that the main characters try to solve. In all the stories you can tell that they are mimicking stories of some famous detectives, like Sherlock Holmes.
Based on some of the things the characters say in the story I believe that this story is set sometime after or during WWII because the characters talk about Bolsheviks and spies.
The book starts with a discussion between Tuppence and Tommy, who have been married for six years. Tuppence is not very happy with her life; she wants’ to have adventures and live unexpected things.
After their discussion Mr. Carter appears and tells the couple that he wants them to take over the International Detective Agency. They accept and hire Albert as their assistant.
After that first part of the book, the rest of the little stories are about the characters, their adventures and mysteries and the way they solve them.
In the last story of the book, at the end, Tuppence reveals to Tommy that she is going to have a baby and that she wants to stop being a detective.
I founded very interesting that in the first story when they talk about the fairy in the photograph and they refer to Conan Doyle; because in the 1920 there were some pictures of some girls in their garden with some fairies and Conan Doyle believed that this pictures were true and he wrote an article and a book were he wrote some theories about what happened.

Fairy tale
Anne and Paul, two high school sweethearts, where coming back home after their collage graduation. They were very happy because after dating for seven years they decided to get married. They were the perfect couple, they finished college and both got good jobs offers. Everything was looking good for their future.
They went to Anne’s parents house and gave them the good news, Anne’s mother started to cry because of happiness. They all knew Paul for so many years and she hoped they get to be as happy as they deserve. They celebrated and made plans to get together with Paul’s parents and start to plan the wedding.
After that the couple started their journey to Paul’s parent’s house that was about one hour away.
It was getting dark and Paul’s parent house was on a hill and the road was a little narrow but they didn’t care because they were coming to give his parents the good news.
They arrived at Paul’s parent’s house and told them the news, his parents started to jump up and down because they were waiting for that moment for many years. Paul told them that after the wedding they have to move to a different state because they got their dream job and they could not let that opportunity go away.
Paul’s parents didn’t feel to happy about them moving far from home but they thought that they have to start building their future and if that is the best way well, that’s what they have to do.
The couple started their way back home while Paul’s mother was on the phone with Anne’s. They said good bye and set the time where they were going to get together to star planning the wedding.
At the middle of their way they could see the lights of another car coming. Paul started to slow down but they didn’t expected the other car to come toward theirs, Paul tried to maneuver but they could not stop the road was wet and they slide and fell from a cliff. They look each other as if they could not explain what was happening. After realizing they were falling and maybe they were not going to make it they look at each other eyes and both said, ¨If we die we will make everything possible to find each other¨. They hugged and the car crashed.
The couple’s parent’s where devastated, they could not accept what just happened but there was nothing to do that beautiful story of their kids was finished.
Nine month later in different countries two ladies gave birth; one to a boy whom she named Paul and the other gave birth to a beautiful girl whom they named Anne. None of those ladies knew but while they where giving birth they felt those where the right names for their kids.
This newborns where welcome to this world with all the happiness and love from their parents, they both lived healthy lives, they were good students and both planed to go to college but before that they were planning a graduation trip with their best friends. They arranged everything and a day after graduation they got on a plane expecting to have the time of their lives.
Anne went for a walk outside her hotel and without knowing she slipped and out of nowhere she felt a hand grabbed her and helped her up. She got up and when she was going to thank the person who helped her, they look at each other eyes and could not believe that finally they found each other. Paul, is it you? Anne, is it you? They both said YES!! They hug, cried and look each other again. Anne said: I knew this was going to happen we committed to the love we had and I was positive that sooner or later we will get together and finally we could have the chance to be happy.

Dialogue about Media
Mario I cannot believe how many things I have to carry around, I have too much work and having to carry a laptop everywhere is not that practical, it is really big and does not fit everywhere.
Fernando Maybe you need an iPad.
Mario What is that?
Fernando It is almost like a small computer, but really thin and small. Maybe that is what you need.
Mario It sounds too good to be true and I am not really good with technology, I have a laptop but I just use it to work, I don not want to have to learn how to use something new.
Fernando It is not hard to use, it is actually very simple and it has everything you need for your work.

Fernando I just bought one, and it has really helped me. I can do my presentations to show to the clients, I can go on the Internet, read books, I also have maps, it also has a calendar, so you can remember everything and many other things that are very useful.
